What you need to Know

Q) What do I need to start taking lessons ??

A) A valid licence…in most cases that will be a UK provisional licence (old or new style) or an International licence, or in some circumstances a foreign licence which entitles the holder to 12 months permitted driving in the UK. More information can be found by looking at the DVLA official website.

Q) Do I need to have passed my theory test before I have a lesson ??

A) Absolutely not !! We recommend you look to study for your Theory test asap but it is not essential for your practical driving lessons. You will need to have passed the Theory test before you can book your Practical driving test however. (To be eligible for one of our “Intensive Courses” you will also have had to have passed your Theory Test otherwise we cannot book your Driving Test to coincide with the course.)

Q) Can I be picked up from home / work / university ???

A) Yes of course, we may even be able to drop you off after your lesson at a different location…within reason of course !!

Q) Will I keep the same instructor and tuition car for all my lessons??

A) Yes, we believe that continuity is one of the keys to successful learning. Of course our cars get replaced and updated in time..

Q) How long do the driving lessons last ?

A) Our standard lessons vary between 1 , 1.5 and 2 hours, which ever suits your needs towards the timescale you have set to reach driving test standard.
However our “intensive” courses can see lessons lasting anything up to 4 hours in one day, with a few breaks of course.

Q) Will I be the only pupil in the car??

A) Absolutely, the practise of “piggy backing” (where the instructor picks up their next client before the current lesson has finished) is totally unacceptable and all our instructors know that doing this would mean a serious breach of their contract with us.

Q) When do I pay for lessons??

A) If you are paying as you go (1 lesson at a time) then you should ensure you have the funds to pay your instructor at the start of each lesson.
If you are enjoying the discount gained through a block booking, or an “intensive” course then payment MUST have been made prior to the first of those lessons commencing.

Q) How do I pay for lessons??

A) We accept Cash, Cheques. Payment for individual lessons should be made direct to your instructor, for added security. We can also provide gift vouchers if you are paying for someone else to learn to drive.

Q) Do you provide weekend and evening lessons ??

A) Yes, we recognise that some peoples lifestyles and work commitments dictate their availability for driving lessons.

Q) If I have had lessons already with another driving school will I be forced to “start again”?

A) No, we will assess your skills and knowledge during your first lesson with us and match our level of instruction to your needs.

We recognise this list is not exhaustive and welcome any questions regarding our driving school that you may have, whether its prior to booking a lesson or at any stage of the learning process.
